About Carolyn Quinn

CAROLYN QUINN grew up in Roselle and Scotch Plains, NJ, an "only child" but a member of an outrageous and rollicking extended family.  She became interested in theatrical history at the age of twelve after participating in a theater arts workshop and later obtained a B.A. in English and Theater/Media from Kean University.  Carolyn wrote MAMA ROSE'S TURN:  The True Story of America's Most Notorious Stage Mother after extensively researching the life of Rose Thompson Hovick, whose colorful and unorthodox parenting style inspired the musical Gypsy.  Carolyn is the Head Honcho and Roving Photographer of Carolyn Quinn Fine Art Photography with pieces that can be found at  She acts as Historical Consultant to produced playwright DeeJae Cox of the Los Angeles Women's Theatre Project, where a new play about Rose Hovick is in development, is a member of The Ziegfeld Society, and serves on the Advisory Council of the Boo-Arts Theatre.  Carolyn lives in New York City, and wants to advise her readers, "Enjoy the story of Rose, but please don't try some of her stunts at home!"  MAMA ROSE'S TURN is her first book.  It can be pre-ordered here on Amazon:
